Unable to edit documents on fresh community server install

Post by iteng.jorgerodriguez » Sat May 19, 2018 3:03 am

Hello,

I have done a fresh install of community server and document server on Ubuntu 16.04. I am having issues when trying to edit a document. I get a "Download Failed" error.

Setup:
VM1 - document server (office.domain.com)
valid SSL certificate from (Lets Encrypt)
NIC1 - public facing IP

VM2 - community server (portal.domain.com)
valid ssl certificate from (Lets Encrypt)
NIC1 - public facing IP

Both virtual servers are on the same host with IP in same subnet. I am able to use the document server with our Nextcloud server without issues. Integration is working as expected there. However, we are demoing the community server and thinking of switching but the online editing on community server is not working. I get an error when entering the URLs on the portal's settings page.

I have attached screenshots of error and what i found in api.log.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hello iteng.jorgerodriguez!
As you can see here error "Download failed" means that
"The Document editing service cannot upload the file for editing. Check if the link to the file specified in the document.url is correct. The link must be accessible from the document editing service."
Please try to make a command wget (wget public facing IP or domain name like wget 192.168.100.3 or wget http(s)://example.com) from VM1 to VM2 and repeat it vice versa from VM2 to VM1. Will you be able to get "HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK"?

Hello Maxim,

I got an error when I attempted the wget command from the document server. It states:

ERROR: cannot verify portal.domain.com's certificate, issued by 'CN=Let's Encrypt Authority X3...l':
Unable to locally verify the issuer's authority.

This is odd since I am using Let's Encrypt certificates on both servers. They are both valid certificates as well.

I have fixed the issue. I had to copy the full chain certificate into onlyoffice. I had previously copied over only the certificate without the chain.
