Internal and External Access

Post by MozartA » Fri Dec 20, 2019 10:27 am

I have a Nextcloud instance and an ONLYOFFICE docker instance in the same box.

OS : Debian 9.x
ONLYOFFICE plugin : v4.0

I define two host names as follows:
abc.domain.com -> Global IP
local.abc.domain.com -> Local IP

I set
Document Editing Service address -> https://abc.domain.com:9991
Document Editing Service address for internal requests from the server -> https://local.abc.domain.com:9991
Server address for internal requests from the Document Editing Service -> https://local.abc.domain.com/nextcloud

1) Accessing via the Internet
Everything works just fone.
* The browser address has a line like https://abc.domain.com/nextcloud/*******************]

2) Accessing from the local
It fails,
and the html source has the line like
<script
nonce="xxxxxxxx"
src="https://abc.domain.com:9991/web-apps/ap ... nts/api.js" type="text/javascript">
</script>
where abc.domain.com is supposed to be local.abc.domain.com.

* * The browser address has a line like https://local.abc.domain.com/nextcloud/*******************]

Do you have any idea why I always fail to access to the document. By the way, the document server responses as I access
https://local.abc.domain.com:9991
from a local PC.

Thanks in advance,
MozartA

I am wondering that the ONLYOFFICE app is supposed to use the "Document Editing Service address for internal requests from the server" when the source IP address is local like 192.168.1.20.

Hello MozartA!
Please note, we strongly recommend to install ONLYOFFICE Document Server and Nextcloud service on separate servers to avoid configuration and port conflicts.

Hi Alexandre,

Yes, I understand your recommendation that we should have the instance separated from the Nextcloud's. However, I need to have these two servers in the same box.

I am willing to contribute to the app. Would you tell me what source files I could look at to avoid the conflict.

Cheers,
MozartA

Am I right, you have access from another machine via Internet but you get fails, when trying to contact server from local network’s machine? Do you have proxy-server in front of docker and Nextcloud?
You can check errors in Document Server log files at /app/onlyoffice/DocumentServer/logs/documentserver/. Attach whole folder to reply or send it in private message.
Also, open browser console and check tabs “Console” and “Network” , while you trying to make contact from local machine. Make screenshot of any errors and attach it to reply too.

One more point, check information in your Nextcloud settings. Go to Nextcloud → ONLYOFFICE app → Advanced server settings. Set adress information for internal requests here, if you didn’t make it before.
