Opening .odt files without conversion

Post by alexis.rosano » Fri Feb 02, 2018 11:50 am

Hi all!

My company only works with .odt files. I know that OnlyOffice could open that files, with a previous conversion to .docx.

My question is if exists any way to open that files without conversion.

Regards!

My Current configuration:

Code: Select all

Nextcloud v13.0.0
Only Office Document Server v5.0.7
OnlyOffice Nextcloud plugin v1.2.0
Here:
https://helpcenter.onlyoffice.com/ONLYO ... rmats.aspx

I understand that OnlyOffice supports ODT file format.

I see in this configuration file

Code: Select all

appconfig.php
that Nextcloud plugin can handle ODT in the "public $formats" array:

replacing this

Code: Select all

"conv" => true
by this

Code: Select all

"def" => true, "edit" => true
So my question is: why ODT is not set editable by default in the appconfig.php config file ?

Should I consider this as not safe yet ? As a result, should I leave appconfig.php unset as it is now ?

Hello sebastien!
why ODT is not set editable by default in the appconfig.php config file ?

Because document server cannot edit *.odt files, *.odt files need to be converted first to xlsx.

A: You can edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations of the most popular formats: DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, TXT, XLS, XLSX, ODS, CSV, PPTX, PPT, ODP

Sure.

This one shows file formats Document Server handles:

This one is the one I've extracted the previous lines from:

General Questions FAQ

Hello sebastien!
Thank you for your info!
You can edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations of the most popular formats: DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, TXT, XLS, XLSX, ODS, CSV, PPTX, PPT, ODP. While uploading or opening the file for editing, it will be converted to the Office Open XML format. It's done to speed up the file processing and increase the interoperability.
