(Spreadsheet) Maximum number of concurrent editors?

Post by mus » Wed May 24, 2017 1:11 pm

We have about 6-7 people who want to look at the same spreadsheet. Frequently (daily) we encounter the problem that the file can't be opened by a new user, probably because too many others have it open. When that happens, the page just never finishes loading - there is no visible error message.

Is there a limit of how many users are allowed?

Hello mus!
That's strange! Behaviour you described is not supposed to be. You should find out where the problem is. There is a limitation for open-source (Community Edition) to 20 simultaneous connections (sessions). As to Enterprise Edition it depends on a license.

But this limit is for the OpenOffice suite itself not the document server right?
Putting this limit for the DS would not be great and decrease the usage of it for many OpenSource products. :)

Hello DerDanilo!

It limits to 20 simultaneous connections (sessions) to the Document Server. It means that it allows to process 20 sessions only. The 21st session will be shown in view mode only.

i think i found the problem. It seems to have to do with the fact that some users click into cells and then leave the focus in there.
Raised a new bug post for it here. viewtopic.php?f=44&t=10069
