Access control for WiKi pages

Post by dmit2k » Thu Jan 16, 2020 2:27 pm

Hello at ONLYOFFICE,

is there any way to control or limit users access to all or just specific WiKi pages?

Maybe the same way it works for documents (sharing)?..

We find this a very important feature.

Hello dmit2k.
Please note, Wiki is designed as an open module where anyone has access to info. Such as Wikipedia. So anyone who has access to Community module can access any page and edit it.
You can destrict access rights to whole module: https://helpcenter.onlyoffice.com/video ... ights.aspx
One more point, according to our data base you have a trial license. We recommend you to contact our support team via helpdesk to get prompt replies to your requests:

That's true for "traditional" Wikipedia, but Onlyoffice is not a social networking product, it is intended for business use. Often Wiki-alike engines are being used to organize different kinds of internal documentation.

Suppose you need to organize some internal policy or procedures tree (kind of Knowledgebase) for specific group of users or department. Suppose this group is security concerned (admins, security teams, financial). Doubt you will want to make the whole world know their internal procedures.

Oops, thank you for the hint, could guess it myself )) OK, that will work as a temporary solution for us, but I still think this feature would be extremely helpful to have in future releases.

Thank you, but so far this forum is a great source of information and I'm getting responses pretty fast. Will contact helpdesk should we face any serious issues.

Thanks for feedback about Community module functionality. We are focused on other features at the moment and don’t plan to implement wiki restrictions.

I understand your point, you're working hard on many other important features and fixes.

What about the following idea, maybe this can be done as relatively quick fix by reusing already existing code and extending the Documents module?

Either:

1 - (most simple solution) add a button to the Document module while browsing folders, say 'Open as Wiki' if the folder contains .md files

2 - (more complicated) add a subsection 'Wiki Pages' to the Documents left menu (same as Project Documents or Common Documents) and render all folders and files there as Wiki pages

Then it should be possible to reuse both the existing sharing functionality of a Documents module and the Wiki sub-module for rendering pages.

This way all users will be able to create their personal Wiki pages and share them the usual way as needed. The existing Community Wiki submodule remains intact as a global organization-wide Wiki.

We understood your idea and we are pleased with any activity regarding the ONLYOFFICE from users community. We will discuss this matter. But I can’t provide any guarantees about the implementation of this feature or time frames.
