Adding a first (new) user / portal activity notifications / email / chat

Hey all, I have the community version installed on a vps behind a router here. Everything is working fine, however on the invite emails being sent it is showing the IP address of the server instead of a host name. Currently the email is sent out with the URL link as http://192.168.5.200, when it should be sending out http://my.hostname.com. I changed the custom DNS setting to the host name I want but that seems to make no difference. I have port forwarding on the router to allow outside connections to the internal server, and that works fine. However without getting the URL changed in the invite emails that are sent out there is no way an outside user can actually register on the system since they cant actually access the internal IP address directly. Can someone explain to me how to change this so it works properly inviting users? Thanks much in advance!
