Callback URL retry

Postby ckinsey » Fri Jan 27, 2017 5:36 am

If the request to the callback URL fails (does not return {'error': 0}), will the document server attempt to try again? I would like to be able to resend the callback in case of an unexpected error with our application/server/network/etc. I can see that the doc_callback entry in postgresql still exists, so this should be possible?

Hello ckinsey!
For now it's not possible. The Document Server won't try again to make the request to the Callback URL. We have decided to solve that after 4.3 release.

Thank you. In the mean time, how can I detect this condition? In my tests it looks as if the failed callback remains in the doc_callbacks table and there are no results related to that document key with status code 8 in the task_results table, but I cannot be sure that is correct.

Hello ckinsey!
Discussing your issue we would like to know at what moment you would like to resend the callback in case of an unexpected error? What is your scenario? The problem (as we suppose) is that there is no need to resend request in a short time period cause it is not necessary, the result would be the same. But if you resend request to save
file after some time later it could lead to the errors because somebody could change the document and this file would have different version.
Anyway we have decided to implement this option to resend the callback.
