Onlyoffice in reader mode first

Hello,
Is there any way to setup NextCloud/Onlyoffice integration to open by default onlyoffice in reader mode instead of launching systematically the editing mode ?

Thanks.
Laurent

Hello dairaine!
Do you mean to open documents in "View" mode only?

Hello,

I precise my thought.

I suppose the document is shared with read and write access.

In many use cases, even if the document is shared with write access, the user with whom the document is shared only need to access to it in reader mode, and sometimes, they want to modify the document.

The idea is to save the resources (e.g., processing and onlyoffice tokens), so to provide the following behavior:
- when you clic on the document, the document is open in reader mode
- to open it in writing mode, you will need to open the nextcloud contextual menu and launch a specific menu item (e.g., open for modification).

I think the office 365 and Google Docs behavior is this one.

Thanks;
Laurent

We are in the process of deploying nextcloud and onlyoffice in the context of higher education institute, with a lot of users (mainly students). Each time a user is reading a document, he directlyt open it in edition mode. Even if he could sometime have to editing it, most of the time he will just want to read it. Then onlytoffice uses a token for each user and I am afraid of running out quickly and artificially the number of onlyoffice tokens.

It seems that when the number of token is over, onlyoffice will open in reader mode.

I just propose to inverse the process and begin to open in reader mode with a possibility to switch in editing mode. Then only when necessary, the user will use a editing onlyoffice token.

Thanks for your reply.
L. Dairaine.

I do not think that it should bother you. But, anyway i will redirect your feedback to our developers.

All token? There are no limit number of tokens.
