Try the fastest and simplest way to install ONLYOFFICE

Fresh install from script is very, very slow.

Questions/problems on Docker

Fresh install from script is very, very slow.

Postby TTownsend » Mon Jan 09, 2017 4:28 am

Hello all,

I've just installed OnlyOffice Community Edition using the single script method.

The host is a Ubuntu Server 16.04_64 guest (4 cores, 8 GB, 100GB disk) under VMWare Workstation.

Everything appears to work correctly, but it is aaaaachingly slow.

HAs anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Cheers,
Trevor

(Note that this is NOT the same system I am troubleshooting in other threads).

Hello TTownsend!
Honestly to say i'm not surprised cause you're using free OnlyOffice (performance is limited to one core), more of it you're running OnlyOffice under VMWare. As a result the performance has been limited twice. Try to run OnlyOffice on clean Ubuntu on PC not on VMWare, i suppose you will see difference. I have to run and install many times Community Edition for testiing on our VPS and have no problem with performance.

Thanks Maxim.

I have two OO Community servers running for evaluation:
1. docker under linux vm (script install), and
2. linux vm (debian/ubuntu install).

My installation in 2 above runs muuuuch faster than docker under linux, which is why I'm wonder if the slowness is a docker config challenge.
I'm curious - if OnlyOffice is restricted to a single core in the Community Edition, do we need dual core as one of the minimum requirements?

Cheers,
Trevor

OnlyOffice for linux is faster, of course, and as you can see here and here dual core is a minimum requirement.

That is the option we are likely to choose, and we have a testing installation of that config (Linux install).

However, we are being plagued by a 502 error returned from the Storage Service (here: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=9323#p13158)
