(Community Server) Failing Clean Install - Ubuntu 16.04

Postby AndySputnik » Wed Aug 22, 2018 12:00 pm

Hi all,

I'm having some problems installing on a clean Ubuntu 16.04 server. I've done this fine in the past with no problem so I'm probably missing something really stupid. Hoping you guys can spot it for me.

I can get all the way to the post install wizard, however:

    - After filling in the form I get the notification 'Unauthorised Request'.
    - Attempting to try again presents the message 'Wizard Passed'.
    - I do receive the welcome email
    - Trying the address again goes to the login screen
    - Login fails
    - I can successfully reset the password
    - Login still fails

Command history with a few comments:

    ###### Post install configure static IP and update apt packages
    sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces
    sudo ip addr flush ens32
    sudo service networking restart
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade
    ###### Begin OnlyOffice install
    ## Mono-complete
    sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp:// --recv-keys 3FA7E0328081BFF6A14DA29AA6A19B38D3D831EF
    sudo apt install apt-transport-https
echo "deb stable-xenial main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-official-stable.list
    sudo apt update
    sudo apt-get install mono-complete
    ## NodeJS
    curl -sL | sudo -E bash -
    sudo apt-get install -y nodejs
    ## OnlyOffice
    sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp:// --recv-keys CB2DE8E5
sudo echo "deb squeeze main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/onlyoffice.list
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install onlyoffice-communityserver
    ## For purposes of testing, the mysql password used when requested was 'onlyoffice'

Resolved.... kinda...

After many many hours of backwards and forwards, i eventually tracked the issue back to a domain name issue, although I can't fathom for the life of me how or why this was a thing...

- Originally, Ubuntu was configured as (dns also pointed to that server's IP) ... see my original issue

Eventually rebuilding Ubuntu again without the fqdn (I used a random name), I was able to successfully log in to OnlyOffice. However after this, I would go into settings and set the custom domain to , and this would result in me being able to reach the web login page at ,but with all login attempts just failing completely.

The eventual resolution, was to use a different subdomain... I ended up using , and that worked perfectly first time.

I have absolutely what was going on in this situation. The domain name was resolving back with nslookup perfectly on all systems. I'm at a loss.
