Try the fastest and simplest way to install ONLYOFFICE

Connection Mobile Apps to Portal

Connection Mobile Apps to Portal

Postby jbakuwel » Fri Jun 15, 2018 5:49 am

Hi there,

I have an Open Source OnlyOffice instance running behind a nginx firewall/proxy (that is also firewall / proxy for other sites).

This works beautifully for the web interface as well as for the Linux Desktop Editors.

However I can't connect the Mobile Editors (Android in this case) to the portal. The Android device is on the same local subnet as the Linux machine mentioned above running the Desktop Editors (which works just fine).
After entering the Portal address and clicking Next I briefly see "Checking portal capabilities", then back to the same screen, ie. I don't see the next screen where I can enter credentials.

The nginx firewall/proxy is automatically redirecting http -> https and subsequently to http for the machine running OnlyOffice.
The nginx config is:

proxy_set_header Host $host;
proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr;
proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for;
proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto $scheme;

proxy_pass http://<local-ip>;
proxy_read_timeout 90;
proxy_redirect http://<local-ip> https://<public-domain-name>
proxy_headers_hash_max_size 1024;
proxy_headers_hash_bucket_size 128;

Does anyone know if the Mobile Apps behave differently compared to (in this case) the Linux Desktop Editors as seems to be the case where it comes to accessing a Portal?

Any suggestions how I can further debug this? The Android Mobile App is not providing any feedback/error message.

kind regards,
Jan

Hi,

After closer observation, I noticed that the Mobile App is saying "SSL handshake error".
The question remains why the Mobile App - apparently - is not able to do a SSL handshake with the portal while the Linux Desktop App - apparently - is working just fine.
Both being on the same local subnet seems to rule out any issues with routing, firewalls and - perhaps - nginx proxy configuration too.

Hello Jan,

There might be some issues with your ssl certificate. Please check it here and send us a screenshot of the output.

Hi Carl,

I've checked the cert (issued by Let's Encrypt) and it's all fine: 4 green check marks. One warning sign saying "The certificate is not trusted in all web browsers. You may need to install an Intermediate/chain certificate to link it to a trusted root certificate. Learn more about this error. The fastest way to fix this problem is to contact your SSL provider.", which is not something I can fix.

See attached screenshot.

Firefox is perfectly happy with the cert and so are the OnlyOffice Linux Desktop Editors.

kind regards,
Jan

Re: Connection Mobile Apps to Portal - SOLVED

Hi Carl,

My bad. The nginx.conf file didn't have the Let's Encrypt fullchain listed.
Replaced cert.perm with fullchain.pem and all is working beautifully.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
