You can install Docker Community Edition

Done that already.

Do I have to create users as explained in the Post-installation steps? Or what are the next steps I've to do.

I'm not Linux savvy!! So, I've to learn a lot in my old age of 70!

Thanks a lot for your help.

Hello quax!
Just follow instruction to install Document Server on linux
Code: Select all
sudo -u postgres psql -c "CREATE DATABASE onlyoffice;"
sudo -u postgres psql -c "CREATE USER onlyoffice WITH password 'onlyoffice';"
sudo -u postgres psql -c "GRANT ALL privileges ON DATABASE onlyoffice TO onlyoffice;"

You should create a user and database with needed privileges.
Maybe you should better install Docker version. It's much easier to install.
I just wonder what is your purpose of using Document Server? What for do you need it?

I installed Docker CE already! Upfront, I also installed OwnCloud 10>
The purpose is simple: edit (and share with allowed users) Excel Worksheets, which containing a lot of Links.

Samba isn't a good way for to access, share and edit Data like Excel Worksheets, it's very insecure! Using OwnCloud and OnlyOffice (Document Server) for that work seems to be the best way?! Isn't it? If you know a better and even more easy solution, please let me know!

Thanks a lot for any more advice and information!

Hello quax!
I think it's a best way to use ownCloud/Nextcloud ONLYOFFICE integration app.

Thanks Maxim.

Please tell me: What are the commands for to check that my installation of Docker CE is complete and OK for to carry on with the installation of the OwnCloud/NextCloud ONLYOFFICE Integration apps? I want to be sure, that, what I've done already is good enough for to carry on.

As I already wrote, I'm not Linux savvy!! All this is quite new for me and therefore I'll need a lot of help!

Thanks a lot for your patient and Halp!

Hello quax!
You can use this command to verify that Docker CE or Docker EE is installed correctly.
Code: Select all
$ sudo docker run hello-world

Docker installed correctly, according to the outcome!

Now I get a bit curious:

What does that mean?

Then, the next question:
Image

That folder "apps" didn't exist! Sure, I could just create it, just like to know what commands I really have to use, don't forget I'm not Linux savvy! I using: https://api.onlyoffice.com/editors/owncloud

Next question:
Image

The <documentserver> name would it be like: server1.test.com?

I think, more questions will follow!

Tnaks a lot for the help and advices!

Hello quax!
1 As documantation shows you can set any custom apps to use in ownCloud/Nextcloud server. After installing app you can enable or disable that app

2 <documentserver> name - you can use domainname or IP address

3 You can use Document Server for Docker or Document Server for linux. It's up to you what you want to install. Docker version is configured already and ready to use but linux version you should configure yourself manually (ports, ip-tables and so on).
