Issue with documents saving

Postby rcmalvin » Sun Oct 30, 2016 2:28 am

I'm having an issue with the Document Service Location page.

I have tried using the domain name, and the IP address of the server, but no matter what I try I still get this error.
Storage url: Error: NameResolutionFailure (No route to host)

Please see the attached.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Alvin

Hello!
Please specify it is docker installation or not. What is OS on the server? Maybe you're using two different servers for Community and Document servers. And what kind of installation you used (Enterprise Edition, Community Edition)?
Is IP address which is under black block the same in all URLs? And what was the reason to change URLs in Community Server => Settings => Document Service?
In details please.

This is a docker installation on Fedora 24.

Everything is installed on the same server.

It is the community edition.

The IP is the same under all the blackboxes.

The Document Service was not saving, and I read about the error and went through the steps outlined. On the Document Service Settings it says the following:
"Please change the '<editors-dns-name>' for the server address in the below lines leaving the rest of the line exactly as it is. "

So that is what I did, and this error shown in the image below occurs.

The server has two IP addresses. I tried both, they got the same error. I tried the domain name that I used for the install and that failed as well.

I turned off the firewall on the server in case it was blocking itself.

I am out of ideas.

Thanks,
Alvin

Hello!
We didn't test on Fedora but lets' still try to solve the problem!
1. Inside Docker the Document Server (DS) and the Community Server (CS) must "see" each other. Docker sets internal ip address to each container and we must be sure that they are connected ("see" each other). So let's check it out. We need to know internal ip addresses of containers.
Code: Select all
docker inspect [Container/Volume] - characteristics of container

In the end of the file you will see IPAddress of container (for example 171.0.231.3-DS and CS 171.0.231.2) - Now we know ip addresses.
You should get inside the container CS (171.0.231.2)
Code: Select all
docker attach [Container/Volume CS]

and enter the following command
Code: Select all
wget http://171.0.231.3/OfficeWeb/apps/api/documents/api.js

api.js file is downloded - it means that containers are OK!
2. Open DOCUMENT SERVICE LOCATION
Document Editing Service Address - /OfficeWeb/apps/api/documents/api.js
Document Command Service Address - http://171.0.231.3/coauthoring/CommandService.ashx - DS ip address
Document Storage Service Address - http://171.0.231.3/FileUploader.ashx - DS ip address
Document Conversion Service Address - http://171.0.231.3/ConvertService.ashx - DS ip address
Community Server Address - http://171.0.231.2 - CS ip address
